The 100th anniversary of the Kut al-Amara victory against the British was commemorated Friday at the Ottoman Turkish Martyrs cemetery in eastern Iraq.

Sinan Zeren, Turkey’s ambassador in Baghdad, delivered a speech in Kut city to mark the anniversary and described Kut al-Amara as a joint Turkish-Iraqi victory.

“We are honored to celebrate the Kut al-Amara victory with the people of Kut,” Zeren said. “These two nations [Turkey and Iraq] fought together shoulder to shoulder and their blood was mixed, like in the battlefields of Canakkale and Kafkas.”

“The Iraqi and Turkish people cannot forget this history,” he added.

Kut’s Deputy Governor Rashid al-Bediri said the victory was in favor of Islamic unity.

“These days, we are exposed to the biggest terror attacks planned by foreign powers,” he said. “The creators of Daesh aim to attack Islam.”

The celebration was attended by officials from Turkey and Iraq, in addition to representatives of Arab tribes and the general public.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday extolled a historic Ottoman army victory over British forces a century ago, during World War I.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the battle of Kut al-Amara, which took place during between the Ottoman Army and British-Indian forces in the town of Kut, now in modern Iraq.

Speaking at an event in Istanbul commemorating the victory’s centenary, Erdogan declared his opposition to versions of history that begin with 1919, the start of the War of Independence that led to the founding of the Turkish Republic in 1923.

“I reject an understanding of history that starts our nation’s, our civilization’s millennia of history with 1919,” he said.

Erdogan said that the country’s history stretches back long before the Republican Era and includes past Turkish civilizations.

“Books or libraries would not be enough to tell the richness of the history of such a country,” Erdogan said.

“But what we have done — we have almost tried to cover up our own history with black cloth. We tried to bury our own history,” he said.

“Those who mention our successes in our own past briefly as if they have nothing to do with us or never mention them at all both disrespect our forebears and harm our future generations,” he said.

“Kut al-Amara Victory is a striking example of this,” he added.

Erdogan added that during the siege of Kut al-Amara, Arabs in Kut fought as members of the Ottoman Army and were martyred for the cause.

Speaking at the same event, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that Kut al-Amara was an indelible victory.

“The understanding of the Old Turkey did not want to remember this victory — they wanted to forget it systematically, so to speak,” he said.

Davutoglu said that the “epic” victory at Kut al-Amara had served as an “elixir of life” at a time of decline and desperation not only for the Turkish nation, but for all other oppressed nations in the region.

“It gave ‘soul and meaning’ to the Turkish Republic which was to be established following the War of Independence,” he said.

Davutoglu also said that Turks had always obeyed the laws of war, and treated its prisoners in a humane manner.

“It is easy to be polite in times of peace. What is important is to be able to be magnanimous towards those who seek your life in conflict and war zones.

“Today Turkey is treating oppressed people fleeing from war and death in the same manner as it treated prisoners of war — without discriminating against anyone based on their religion, language, ethnicity, identity, or sect,” he said.

This year the victory at Kut al-Amara is being remembered through special events such as an exhibition and a new book with the memoirs of an Ottoman officer.

11th century Muslim scholar Ibn Sina’s Supernova observations unearthed

SN 1006SN 1006

A group of German scientists have discovered the Supernova observations carried out by Muslim scholar Ibn Sina, one of the most significant thinkers and writers of the Islamic Golden Age that lived between 980 and 1037.

According to the story published on technology blog Gizmodo on Sunday, an ancient supernova coded the SN 1006 was observed by Ibn Sina.

According to the story, German researchers R. Neuhauser, C. Ehrig-Eggert, and P. Kunitzsch translated a part of Ibn-Sina’s Kitab al-shifa (The Book of Healing), one of the major philosophical works of the scholar supposedly written between 1013 and 1023.

In the discovered portion of the book, Ibn Sina describes the widely documented SN 1006 supernova. Even though the SN 1006 is well known in many parts of the world, the Islamic scholar’s observation provides a new crucial observational point that the supernova was brighter than Venus over a three month period, so bright that it could be seen even during daylight.

In the description, the scholar says;

“It therefore happens that the burning and flaming stays for a (long) while, either in form of a lock of hair or with a tail [i.e. in form of a comet], mostly in the north, but sometimes also in the south, or in form of a star among the stars [kawkab min al-kawakib] – like the one which appeared in the year 397(h).”

After the initial description, Ibn Sina details his observation, adding the length of its appearance. “It remained for close to three months [qarıban min thalathat ashhur] getting fainter and fainter until it disappeared; at the beginning it was towards a darkness and greenness, then it began to throw out sparks [yarmı bi-l-sharar] all the time, and then it became more and more white and then became fainter and disappeared. It can also have the form of a beard or of an animal with horns or of other figures,” he states.

SN 1006 was a supernova, widely observed from Earth beginning in the year 1006; at the time, the Earth was about 7,200 light-years away from the supernova. It was the brightest apparent magnitude stellar event in recorded history, reaching an estimated −7.5 visual magnitude. First appearing in the constellation of Lupus between April 30 and May 1, 1006, this “guest star” was described by observers in China, Japan, Iraq, Egypt, and Europe.

Ibn Sina, also known as Avicenna in the West, was a Persian polymath who is regarded as one of the most significant thinkers and writers of the Islamic Golden Age.

Of the 450 works he is known to have written, around 240 have survived, including 150 on philosophy and 40 on medicine.

His most famous works are The Book of Healing – a philosophical and scientific encyclopedia, and The Canon of Medicine – a medical encyclopedia which became a standard medical text at many medieval universities and remained in use as late as 1650. In 1973, Ibn Sina’s Canon Of Medicine was reprinted in New York.

Besides philosophy and medicine, Avicenna’s corpus includes writings on astronomy, alchemy, geography and geology, psychology, Islamic theology, logic, mathematics, physics and poetry.

What your billions are for

Some things that occur are hard to stomach. One of those many things, is the stingy rich person. I am not talking about someone who has a few thousand pounds but those who have hundreds and sometimes Billions of pounds are not willing to pay their zakah! They would rather by a flash car then give some charity. Why do Muslim businessmen not pay their zakah? They would rather rip off hard working people of their wealth, than pay them their rights. How wretched some people are! Such people will be resurrected in the troop of the oppressors in the anger of Allah (the Exalted).

والذين يكنزون الذهب والفضة ولا ينفقونها في سبيل الله فبشرهم بعذاب أليم

Surah Tawbah 9:34

“Those who horde silver and gold, and do not spend it in the path of Allah; give them glad tidings of a painful punishment.”

This passage is very clear.  The excessive wealth of the rich is to be spent in the path of Allah (the Exalted). Not on putting it away in a Swiss bank account or buying a football club! Their money is what they cling to and they will lie, cheat and steal for it. They see nothing wrong with that at all.
I do have a go at committee members of masjids because of their lack of vision and the fact they do not do what they should but the wealthy have a share of the blame. Read this passage again. They are hording their wealth which is more dear to them than serving Allah (the Exalted). What a wretched state to be in! Your wealth could be spent making a masjid in the correct manner and serving a community. We have many rich Muslims who could put a small amount towards education institutes, but they do not. What good is your wealth going to do on the Day of Judgment? You cannot buy your way into heaven? So what are you saving it for? Your kids? They do not need millions but you need some good actions!

Surah Tawbah 9:24.

“Say: if your parents, your children, your brethren, your partners, your clans, the wealth you horde, the trade you fear will slacken, homes that please you are more beloved to you than Allah and His Messenger, struggling in His path; then await the command of Allah; Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.”

This passage clearly states those people who prefer people or wealth over striving in the path of Allah (the Exalted) are wrongdoers/Fasiq. Fasiq is he who does wrong openly so that people know. If you are like this then donate your extra charity (not zakah) to an educational institute even if it is anonymously.

Alternatively, to someone who is genuinely serving the communities and not to masjids, zakah is not allowed for masjids to take or ask for. Arrogantly hanging onto your wealth means you have already lost it without gaining anything. Poverty and wealth is a state of the heart. If a rich man is in need then he is poor and if a poor man has no desire for the world then he is rich.

Hadith on evil traders

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said, “Traders are notoriouslyunscrupulous.” They asked, “O Messenger of Allah, even if they trade in what Allah has made lawful?” He said, “Yes, because they speak to lie, they take oaths and commit sins.”
Reported by Imam Ahmed 3/428, Al-Hakim 2/8

Rafaiah ibn Rafiah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said, “Traders are resurrected on the day of judgement with the unrighteous, except those who fear Allah: the pious and the truthful.”
Reported by Al-Tirmdhi 1210, Al-Dayrami 2/247, Ibn Majah 2146, Ibn Hibban 11/276.

That should be enough to scare you into action.

The Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) was a honest businessman/trader par excellence. He never cheated anyone, ever in his life, not even once. He knew the manners of tradesmen because he worked in that field. How many oil billionaires do we have who do not pay their zakah? Often these people are punished by an increase in wealth so that they have more to account for.

Final points

Get yourself out of this state before you die and your wealth adds up to nothing. Are not the two passages enough for you to wake up? The day of judgement is when the tables are turned and the real wealth of sincere good actions become wealth. Moreover, wealth will mean nothing like airborne sand that flies past you and adds up to nothing.

Why are these oil rich companies not bothered about helping poor people? You have a responsibility to put your hand into the pocket and spend that money that Allah (the Exalted) has given you.
If you none of the Quranic passages and hadith have had any affect on you then I give you glad tidings of a painful punishment in the afterlife. Give your money to charity and do not follow it with harm because they you lose it all. The reward is gone when you follow up charity with harm and so many people do that. Give charity and forget about the amount! Companies who give charity are given discounts on their tax! Yet youstill do not want to give! Do something with your money before your life is over, mr Billionaire!

The first university in world history (9th Cent) was founded by Fatima Al-Fihri in Fez. She had excessivewealth and spent it in the path of Allah (the Exalted). By founding a university that still runs until today. May Allah give her many blessings!
If you are wealthy person who is serving his community and paying charity (I do not think you exist) I would like to hear from you. Even if its just to prove me wrong but the hadith is clear. “Traders are notoriouslyunscrupulous.”

Homosexual George Bush Pedophile Sex Ring and Blackmail of Congress

Homosexual George Bush Pedophile Sex Ring and Blackmail of Congress

The Franklin Cover Up is only the tip of the Iceberg

George HW Bush is a known evil pedophile, who ran a Congressional Blackmail Child Sex Ring during the 1980s known as “Operation Brownstone and Operation Brownstar”, and later to become known as “The Finders or The Franklin Coverup”. U.S. Vice President George HW Bush would sneak children over to Senator Barney Frank’s condo, known as a “Brownstone” to their famous cocktail parties, where U.S. Congressman and U.S. Senators — some willing and some unwilling participants — got a taste of the “Voodoo Drug” in their drink.

George HW Bush a known Evil Pedophile

To prove a case, you need one that was involved in an operation or a witness or documents; in this case, U.S. Customs documents prove the case without getting anyone still living killed.

Inside the (scribd) document is an article that appeared in US News and World report December 27 1993, entitled “Through a Glass Very Darkly”.

This includes cops, spies and a very old investigation — also copies of the U.S. Customs Reports where the names are not blacked out.

The late Ted Gunderson

You may have purchased a set with the names blacked out from dirty FBI-CIA blackmailer Ted Gunderson, a known thief, liar and killer — a true “Daddy Bush FBI Troll, who surfaced in the 1990s to run cover for Bush and to identify those children who still may be living, who could be a liability to Bush, Gunderson and CIA George Pender’s Congressional Child Sex Blackmail Operation known as “Brownstar”.

Ted Gunderson surfaced in the early 1990s as the so-called investigator in the Franklin Savings and Loan case against Larry King a Black Republican, who introduced George HW Bush at the 1988 Republican Convention as America’s next President. Ted Gunderson was there to get rid of any witnesses or children from “Boys Town”, an orphanage for all boys, many of whom had been transported to Washington DC and raped  by these pedophiles in Bush-Gunderson-Pender Child Sex Ring known as “Operation Brownstar”.

Richard Cheney

The true story never has been told that children from orphanages all across America during the 1980s came to Washington DC, paid by the US Taxpayers, to unknowingly participate in the Congressional Blackmail Child Sex Ring. Daddy Bush, Dick Cheney, John Sununu, according to sources, would be standing in line to greet the children and their caretakers as they came to the Vice President’s Home and or the White House for their specially invited tour at US Government expense. Bush, Cheney and Sununu would ask, “what’s your name”, and later just before dinner time, a call from the White House came into the hotel where the children were staying to the Caretakers inviting Little Billy, Mary, Johnny, Timmy, and Pam to the White House State dinner that evening.

The caretakers thought it would be good for the children, since the White House could not accommodate the entire orphanage. Gunderson and Pender, who ran the operation, dispatched the limo at Bush’s request, and the female would take the children to the limo and immediately give them a Coke or Pepsi with the VOODOO DRUG in it, and they were off to U.S. Senator Barney Frank’s pad, known as a “Brownstone”.

Barney Frank

Of course, the U.S. Senators and U.S. Reps were there with the good-looking female prostitutes who would help get the congressmen and senators drunk on the “VOODOO DRUG”, so when Daddy Bush, Dick Cheney, John Sununu and others showed up at the party and the children in the limo arrived, the female prostitutes left and the child sex party started, with U.S. Vice President George HW Bush, Richard Cheney, John Sununu and others showing the VOODOO drunk congressman and senators how to have sex raping children, while the cameras were running. Someone pretending to be from the White House would call the caretakers back at the hotel and would tell them the children fell asleep and are staying the night here at the White House and will be returned before lunch tomorrow.

John Sununu

The caretakers did not suspect a thing until 6 months later when their children were sitting in front of the TV watching the News and waiting for dinner, when many would jump up and point to the TV and say “He put his thing in me”, as the children pointed to either their rectum or the female side. These caretakers began to ask questions and did not know whom to call. Some called “People Magazine”, which spent a million dollars investigating all of America’s orphanages and found this was true, with those children selected out at the White House being greeted by these known pedophiles: Bush, Cheney and Sununu.

The story was never told by “People Magazine”. The Journalist I talked to on many occasions in the late 1980s and early 1990s was never allowed to publish the story.

Now you know the full story. – A SHEEP NO MORE

Who are God’s Friends?

Who, then, are God’s friends?

The friends of God are those fortunate ones who have mastered the exoteric and esoteric on the path of Sufism, and who have attained perfection of conduct and behaviour by making progress via the heart.

They are the peaks of Prophetic guidance and perfection of conduct strung out across time.

The Messenger of Allah, upon him be blessings and peace, is an actual and tangible guide for all those people who have not been able to attain the honour of seeing him and his Companions.

Mawlana Jalal al-Din al-Rumi states:

“Remain in the company of the friends of Allah, or the people of spirituality, that you may obtain from them favour and goodness, as well as spiritual strength, and that you may remain young, alive and vigorous with Divine love.”

If, he says, you were a piece of hardened stone or marble, or if you were in other words of a harsh and heedless disposition, and you were able to reach a person of heart, then you would become a jewel, of emerald or diamond. Establish (the love of) the friends of Allah in your heart. Do not set your heart on anything other than the love of the intimate knowers of Allah, he says.

The main characteristics of those seeking to be friends of Allah:

‒ A believer has characteristics pertaining their carnal self.

‒ They have characteristics which concern Allah Almighty.

‒ They have characteristics relating to creation.

‒ The believer has qualities in reference to their attitude towards the world.

The believer’s characteristics pertaining their carnal self:

It was declared in the Qur’anic verse that we just recited:

“Who is better in speech than one who calls to Allah and does good, righteous deeds, and says: ‘Surely I am of the Muslims (wholly submitted to Him)?’” (41:33)

A believer must become aware of their responsibility and examine the state which they are in.

For Allah Almighty declares:

thumma latus’alunna yawma-idhin ‘ani l-na’īm

“…And on that Day, you will most surely be questioned as to all the favors (bestowed on you).”(102:8)

Characteristics which concern Allah Almighty:

What does Allah Almighty demand from His servant?

wa huwa ma’akum ayna mā kuntum

“…And He is with you, wherever you may be….”(57:4)

So, to what extent are we together with Allah Almighty?

We have to exert ourselves in becoming with Allah Almighty.

alā bidhik’ri l-lahi taṭma-innu l-qulūb

“Be aware that it is in the remembrance and of and whole-hearted devotion to Allah that hearts find rest and contentment.” (13:28)

To be able to attain such contentment…

Similarly, Allah Almighty informs us that He is nearer to us than our jugular vein. How close are we to Him?

There is Shibli, one of the friends of Allah. He is once in a particular gathering. In the assembly, there are such discussions as, “Allah will ask this, or ask that…”

Shibli says:

“Allah will ask you first, ‘My servant, I was with you in the world. Who were you with?’

It is Allah Almighty, Who creates, favours, bestows, Who will ask.

So, [we have to consider] our relationship with Allah… How much are we able to draw near to Allah Almighty with our state, our acts of worship, our devotions and our daily dealings?

The believer’s qualities concerning creation:

Again, another verse recited reads:

“Goodness and evil can never be equal. Repel evil with what is better (or best)…” (41:34)

What is to happen to a believer? They are to become clear, become transparent, and be like rain water. They are to become taintless. They are to become forgiving.

“Then see: the one between whom and you there was enmity has become a bosom friend.” (41:34)

A believer’s qualities in reference to their attitude towards the world:

They are to acquire a manner of looking at creation by means of its Creator. They are to abandon carnal desire and strive towards being a good servant of their Lord.

Such spiritual perceptions expressed as renunciation (zuhd), piety (taqwa) and prefect goodness (ihsan) during the time of the Messenger of Allah were later given the name ‘Sufism’. These are different words encompassing the same meaning. In other words, Sufism is the heart’s ability to attain contentment, and for it to find rest. Allah Almighty declares:

alā bidhik’ri l-lahi taṭma-innu l-qulūb

“Be aware that it is in the remembrance and of and whole-hearted devotion to Allah that hearts find rest and contentment.” (13:28)

To be able to find peace with Allah Almighty…

Of course, several definitions have been offered:

“The art of attaining piety.”

“The art of not getting caught up in life’s ebbs and flows.”

“The art of being pleased with Allah under changing conditions.”

“The art of attaining noble character.”

And most importantly:

“The art of forgetting complaint.”

ẓalūman jahūlan The effort to escape ignorance and wronging oneself.

With this wise counsel, we have to measure ourselves up against the Prophetic Tradition of the Messenger of Allah, upon him be blessings and peace.

The Messenger of Allah says:

“Surely there are some people who are keys to goodness and locks to evil. And indeed some people are keys to evil and locks to goodness.

Happy are those in whose hands Allah has placed the keys of good! Woe unto those in whose hands Allah has placed the keys of evil!” (Ibn Maja, Muqaddima, 19; Bayhaqi, Shu’ab al-Iman, I:455)

In that case, then, we need to weigh ourselves up: to what extent do we hold the key to good in our grasp, and to what extent do we hold the key to evil? How much are we going towards good and how much towards evil? We need to gauge this…

Likewise, the Messenger of Allah states:

“Envy is justified in regard to two types of persons only:

A person whom Allah has given knowledge of the Qur’an, and so they recite it during the night and during the day; and a person whom Allah has given wealth [They say, ‘Why did Allah give me this wealth and not to another, and so they know how to use their wealth] and so they spend from it [in the way of Allah] during the night and during the day.”(Muslim, Musafirin, 266, 267)

They do not say the wealth is theirs, but say that it belongs to their Lord.

Similarly, a supplication of the Messenger of Allah… Of course, this begins from the negative. With what will it be made up for? It will be made up for with piety:

“O Allah, “I seek refuge in You from all knowledge that gives no benefit, a heart that does not fear You, an unsatisfied soul and from supplication that is not answered.” (Muslim, Dhikr, 73)

This means that these four things must be avoided:

From useless knowledge: do the things that I know bring me nearer to Allah Almighty or make me incline to earthly interests? How much?

From a heart that does not entertain the fear of Allah: How much is our rapture or profundity of spiritual feeling?

From a soul that is not satisfied: Do we have passion or ambition? What is our situation?

From the supplication that is not answered: The tongue has spoken, but the heart is far from Allah. This means that this is to no avail. It is from this state that the Messenger of Allah says, “O Lord, I take refuge in You!”

A word of wisdom from Abu Bakr, may Allah be well pleased with him. Abu Bakr, may Allah be well pleased with him, reveals the state of an altruistic person:

“Four people are among the righteous servants of Allah [In other words, he describes an altruistic heart. So, to what extent do we share in this?”]

The first: One who rejoices in seeing a penitent person (happy that they have taken the path of deliverance).

The second: one who implores their Lord for the forgiveness of sinners. (Are they imploring Allah for the forgiveness of all the believers as they implore Him for the forgiveness of their own sins?) In other words, what is the extent of their compassion? Is it only for their own selves?)

The third: one who prays for their fellow believer in their absence.

The fourth: the person who helps and serves a person who is more in need than themselves.”

This means that that I am charged with that person. What is this? This is becoming socialised. The prescribed prayer is the most important of individual acts of worship and service (to others) is the most important act of social service. (This means) to be able to offer our brother or sister in faith what we want for ourselves.

Abu Bakr offers a word of advice to ‘Umar:

“O ‘Umar,” he says, “know that for Allah are deeds of the day that He does not accept at night; and deeds of the night that He does not accept during the day.”

So, what are our duties during the day and at night, especially in the hours before dawn? How should we spend these hours? How will our perception and sensibilities increase? How will we be together with Allah Almighty? If we were to do this during the day, it would not be the same. It would not have that freshness, that beauty. Moreover, Allah Almighty invites us during the hours before dawn:

wal-mus’taghfirīna bil-asḥār

“…and who implore Allah’s forgiveness before daybreak.” (3:17)

Similarly, Abu Bakr says:

“If you miss an act of goodness, strive to catch it; when you do, look to surpassing it for that which is better and strive to excel it.”

A believer’s horizon has to be in acts of goodness…

‘Umar, may Allah be well pleased with him, says:

“The most beloved of people to me is the person who points out my flaws.”

Of course, they point these out in the proper manner. It is only when they point their faults out sincerely that it has an effect.

‘Umar, may Allah be well pleased with him, became Caliph and delivered a sermon to the people:

“O people,” he said, “I am not the best of you… But help me in my task. Assist me in enforcing what is good and forbidding what is evil. Advise me regarding the obligations that have been imposed upon me by Allah. When there is any deviation on my part, advise me.”

Meanwhile, a Bedouin stood up, a dweller of the desert, who had maybe only recently accepted Islam, and said:

“O ‘Umar, Don’t you worry.” He unsheathed his sword, brandishing it in the air. “Don’t you worry. Should you wilfully deviate from the truth, we will straighten you with our swords.”

‘Umar, may Allah be well pleased with him, raised his hands and said:

“O Lord, You have bestowed me with a community who will warn me.”

This means that we need to point out the mistakes of our brothers and sisters in seclusion, away from everyone else, with soft, gentle words, qawlan layyinan (see 20:44), and to warn them.

Another issue:

Someone once spoke of another in words of much praise in the presence of ‘Umar. He was expressing admiration of him. ‘Umar asked the man three questions:

“Have you travelled with him?” he said. Travelling of course was difficult at the time, through the desert.

The man said, “No.”

“Have you done business with him?” ‘Umar asked. In other words, have you engaged in social dealings with that person?

The man again said, “No.”

“Well then, have you lived next to them day and night?”

The man said, “No.”

When the man answered no to all three questions, ‘Umar, may Allah be well pleased with him said:

“By Allah – there is no god but He – you do not know him!”

So this is very important. This is because Allah Almighty wants such a prayer, for instance, that it is to produce devoted reverence.

fawaylun lil’muṣallīn, He declares. “And woe to those worshippers.” (107:4)

So, we cannot know the degree of reverence in prayer, fasting, or the like. It is actually during daily dealings that the servant reveals their true character and personality.

Similarly, ‘Umar, may Allah be well pleased with him, has important advice for parents:

“Reform yourself first before reforming others. The most ignorant of people is one who barters their own Hereafter for the worldly life of another.”

This is also very important. We as parents have to be a good example to our children. When parents put this off, to do later, they end up losing their children.

Likewise, ‘Umar, may Allah be well pleased with him, says:

“Whoever speaks much, errs much.

(The Messenger of Allah says, ‘Either speak good, or remain silent.’   [Muslim, Iman, 77])

The one who errs much will have less shame. The person who has less shame will have less piety. And when one has less piety, their heart will die.”
