A Syrian child washed ashore in Turkey after a failed attempt to escape to Europe. From death by suffocation in a truck in Austria, to the death road across the mediterranean sea, to the all kinds of abuses, humiliation and indignities in the tent camps in neighboring countries, death awaits Syrians fleeing the tyranny of the regime and its opponents. The Syrian people were not fortunate enough to have a country like Sweden or Germany being their neighbor. Unfortunately, all countries surrounding Syria are Muslim majority countries who were at least a passage for death, bloodshed and destruction to enter Syria, but refused to give the victims of death and destruction an opportunity to a dignified life in their countries, and put them up in tent camps instead, then bragged about their nobility in deciding to take in so many “refugees” and the great favor they are doing them.
The “outspoken” revolutionaries who called for “Holy Jihad” in Syria and were loud and swift in the call to the obligation of killing their political opponents under the banner of injustices and transgressions, fell mute, blind and deaf this time around. They forgot to be non-violently “outspoken” this time, and call loudly upon the “Muslim” leaders in countries where they’re enjoying a luxury living to allow Syrian refugees to have a dignified life opportunity without being forced to be in tent camps, without documentations and without being subject to all kinds of abuses and indignities.
Those who were rallying the world to send bullets to Syria have forgotten to rally the “free and democratic” rulers in the Arab and Muslim world to treat Syrians like “brothers” or even like just another “human being” rather than refugees with no rights. Makkah is a lot closer than The Netherlands, and Mauritania is closer than Sweden. The revolutionaries forget to non-violently be outspoken this time, and call onto the countries that finance the war in Syria, whether pro or against, and both are just as sickening, to open their borders and offer a dignified opportunity to the very people they are “fighting” for to attain ” freedom” and “democracy”.
The call to death and destruction was swift, ready and loud, but the call to non-violence, peace and construction seems to find a dead-end. The internet heros have fallen silent except on further political views and “insights” that led to this suffering in the first place, and the world wide is watching and taking photo’s. Today our positive contribution is dwarfed into a “like”, “comment”, “share” or a “RT”, and we are all watching each other, but then go about everything in our world to seek more gains without even making a genuine prayer for the victims who are suffering from this mad violence that many were and are still cheering for. A violence the people didn’t choose, didn’t want, and mostly didn’t participate into. Gain is the name of the game in this world, and its still blinding us.
Maybe there is a point that this martyred child, may Allah Ta’ala sanctify his soul, has his shoes facing us.
